Sibylle Berg

Sibylle Berg was born in Weimar, lived in a foster family in Constanta, among other places, and later also in Israel, Germany and has Swiss citizenship. She studied in Hamburg, was engaged in Judo, Kung Fu and GST Tauchsport. Sibylle Berg considers herself to be part of the Straight Edge movement and is non-binary.

Sibylle Berg began writing while still a student (including oceanography) and has become one of the best-known contemporary playwrights/authors in the German-speaking world with (current status 2020: 27 theatre plays, 15 novels, numerous anthologies and radio plays, as well as total translations into 34 languages).

For her last novel "GRM - Brainfuck", Sibylle Berg was awarded the Swiss Book Prize, among other prizes. In 2020, she received the Grand Prix Literatur for her work, the highest award given by Switzerland for literary creation.
